Tigers [Apr. 8th, 2008|12:02 am]
Just got home from Buffalo Wild Wings where I went to watch the Tigers so I wouldn't sit at home and watch the game alone. They fought a good fight, it was just Kansas's game.

Awe well, I'm still proud of how far they got. The nation will remember who Memphis is now. We're the only team in the nation that can say we're 38 and 2. So.....

GO TIGERS!! Here's to next year!!

Indian Weather....ugh! [Feb. 26th, 2008|10:39 am]
Yesterday I was able to actually see the grass, first time in at least a month. This morning is a different story. There's 4 inches of snow and more on the way. Man I hate driving in this. It is pretty though.

Thought it was interesting.

Its ironic to me that after such a terrible tragedy at the UofM, that they are playing Marshall, the one school that will understand what they are going through.

I'm only glad that the game is going to be shown nationally, so I'll have a chance to watch it. I'm sure the commentators will be talking about Bradford off and on as the game is played. I think it is very moving that the players decided to go through with the game. From what I've read, they could have canceled it.

On one of the Tiger forums I read a Marshall fan's words of encouragement. It was very touching, he gave his condolences and sent out a prayer for the family and friends, but what was most touching was that he ended his statement with:

"We Are Memphis!"

The Marshal chant that keep them going after their tragedy years ago.

Finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows last night. It was really great. I'm finding that I want to read it again immediately.

Yup! Think I just might have to read it again.

What the Heck is a Hoosier?? [Jun. 30th, 2007|08:22 pm]
[mood | confused]

When I first moved here, I was told welcome to the Hoosier state. My uncle even said to me "You're going to the Hoosiers." I was like "What the heck is a Hoosier?" No one would answer me. I finally found out where it came from.

"The correct definition was probably found by Jacob Piatt Dunn, Jr., Indiana historian and longtime secretary of the IHS. Dunn noted that "hoosier" was frequently used in many parts of the South in the 19th century for woodsmen or rough hill people. He traced the word back to "hoozer," in the Cumberland dialect of England. This derives from the Anglo-Saxon word "hoo" meaning high or hill. In the Cumberland dialect, the world "hoozer" meant anything unusually large, presumably like a hill. It is not hard to see how this word was attached to a hill dweller or highlander. Immigrants from Cumberland, England, settled in the southern mountains (Cumberland Mountains, Cumberland River, Cumberland Gap, etc.). Their descendants brought the name with them when they settled in the hills of southern Indiana."

And it still doesn't make any sense to me.

Anyone have any suggestions on traveling 10 hrs by car with a cat? It's been suggested that I go to the vet and get a tranquilizer, but I'm just wondering if there are any other options.

Watchin' the news and they started talking about the contaminated peanut butter. Of course I had to go look at the peanut butter I have.
Wouldn't you know, I have a jar with the 2-1-1-1 on the lid. Great! Good thing I haven't eaten it in awhile. And of course mom and my sister think that's why I've been sick this week. Hello, haven't had it in weeks.

Oh well, guess I'll dispose of it, and send the top in for a refund. WMCTV.com has the address for anyone else who has any contaminated PB.

A little Humor for the middle of the week [Jan. 23rd, 2007|05:25 pm]
FIVE BEST THINGS TO SAY IF YOU GET CAUGHT SLEEPING AT YOUR DESK

5. "They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen."

4. "This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time management course you sent me to."

3. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the Whiteout. You probably got here just in time."

2. "Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?"

And the NUMBER ONE best thing to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk...

1. Raise your head slowly and say, "...in Jesus' name, Amen."
